We are excited to be preparing for our 2022 Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year Gala on Wednesday, June 8, 2022

The OBWA was formed in 1987. This will be the 31st year of celebrating the Nelle Carter Woman of the Year and the 17th year of the Lisa Brooking Young Woman of the Year.

The Woman of the Year award is given to a woman who is respected for her outstanding work in the community, in the workplace, at home or all three but especially in the community.

The Young Woman of the Year must demonstrate high scholastic achievement, participation in extra school activities, and volunteer work in the community and must be seeking post-secondary education.

The young women nominees are selected by their respective schools. The voting for the recipient of Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year are done by independent, anonymous citizens from the area.

The past two celebrations have been virtual but this year we are so happy to be planning for an in-person dinner celebration event. Details will be shared closer to the event date.

We are looking for nominees for the Woman of the Year. The nominees can reside in the City of Orillia or the surrounding townships. The deadline to submit a name is April 20, 2022.

The details can be found on the website of the Orillia Business Women’s Association. You can also email the OBWA, through their website, with any questions or to request a nomination package.

If you know of that one woman who stands out for her community-mindedness and who is a respected member of the local or global community, now is the time to recognize her and celebrate her.
