Noted researcher in prostate cancer treateent will speak to the Orillia Prostate Cancer Awareness Group.

Dr. Gerard Morton, affiliate scientist at the Odette Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, will be at the Royal Canadian Legion on Wednesday, June 26.

As a radiation oncologist with special expertise in using brachytherapy and image-guided radiotherapy, Morton has extensive experience in treating cancer using these methodologies.

He has taught many international workshops on these techniques. Morton’s ongoing research includes investigating ways to target cancer more accurately with radiation, while sparing normal tissue.

Efforts of his other research have developed a regimen of five radiation treatments, bringing it down from the original 35 treatments.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The doctor starts his talk at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge for attending this event and everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be available.
