The Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) believes that it is important to acknowledge its supporters, those who have contributed to the culture and fabric of our community and to keeping our local history alive for future generations.

Today we celebrate the indomitable Jean Sarjeant.

Jean has been a longtime stalwart member, supporter and promoter of arts and history organizations in our community for decades. She has dedicated a big part of her life to promoting and preserving our local history. OMAH celebrates Jean’s many accomplishments and contributions that have so enriched the fabric of Orillia and contributed to the success of OMAH over those years.

Those who were asked to comment about Jean’s contributions could not say enough about her and her lifetime of commitment to our community. The list of organizations is long: the Simcoe County Historical Association, Orillia Historical Society, Sir Samuel Steele Art Gallery, and OMAH.

She was there during the good times and the stressful times to help ensure the health and the mandate of these organizations.

“Jean Sarjeant, an ordinary woman with a not-so-ordinary ability to rise to the occasion …” — Kate Grigg, Packet & Times, 2017.

Jean has proven this over and over again.
