Ontario reports 1,057 new COVID cases Saturday

Public Health Ontario has reported 1,057 new COVID cases in its latest report (May 29).

Today's update also includes 2,057 new recoveries and 15 deaths. 

The May 29 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 934 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 1,023 yesterday.
  • There are 626 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (down from 645 yesterday) and 438 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 458 reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 33,559 tests were processed yesterday for a positivity rate of 3.6 per cent.
  • Another 14,678 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, 15.1 million tests have been completed.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 228 are from Toronto, 178 cases are from Peel, and 82 are from York Region.

Vaccines

  • There were 148,972 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered on May 28 which is down from 159,775 administered on May 27.
  • As of 8 p.m. on May 28, the province reported 8,839,445 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered.
  • In total, 659,139 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 529,510 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 506,361 recoveries and 8,726 deaths, of which 3,949 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.
