Ontario reports 170 new COVID cases Monday

Today's report also includes 233 recoveries, 14 new hospitalizations, and one death

Public Health Ontario has reported 170 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (July 5). 

Today's update also includes 233 new recoveries and one death (an individual between 60 and 79 years old). 

Since yesterday's update, there have been 14 new hospitalizations, and eight patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

The July 5 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,967 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 2,031 yesterday.
  • 155 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario, but hospitalization data is incomplete as not all hospitals report on weekends.
  • There are 228 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 58 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 157 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 33 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 12,949 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.3 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 4,321 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 34 are from Waterloo, 27 are from Toronto, eight cases are from Peel, five are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and seven are from York Region.
  • Today's cases include 52 individuals aged 19 and under, 51 people between 20 and 39 years old, 40 people between 40 and 59 years old, 24 people between 60 and 79 years old, and three people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 144,795 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 15,705,866 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 5,687,477 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 545,973 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 534,791 recoveries and 9,215 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,673 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 10.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 16.2 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
