Ontario reports 210 new COVID cases Monday

Today's report includes 326 recoveries, 23 new hospitalizations, and three deaths

Public Health Ontario has reported 210 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 28). 

Today's update also includes 326 new recoveries and three deaths. 

The deaths reported include one person between 40 and 59 years old, one person between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old.

Since yesterday's update, there have been 23 new hospitalizations, and 11 patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

The June 28 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 2,506 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 2,625 yesterday.
  • 218 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario, up from 203 yesterday. Hospitalization numbers are generally underreported on weekends with 10 per cent of hospitals not submitting bed census data on the weekend. 
  • There are 287 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness, but 63 of those patients no longer test positive for COVID-19. 
  • 191 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness, but 33 of them no longer test positive for COVID-19.
  • The province reported 13,071 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.8 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 4,259 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.8 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 26 are from Waterloo, 37 are from Toronto, 15 cases are from Peel, seven are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and eight are from York Region. Today's cases include 25 from Grey Bruce region, where there's been a significant surge in cases over the last few days. 
  • Today's cases include 57 individuals aged 19 and under, 69 people between 20 and 39 years old, 48 people between 40 and 59 years old, 27 people between 60 and 79 years old, and nine people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 180,369 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 14,207,510 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 4,324,770 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 544,414 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 532,779 recoveries and 9,129 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,656.9 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 13.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 23.3 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
