Ontario’s Lake Country is pleased to announce the selection of Kris Puhvel as its next executive director.  Puhvel joined the organization on April 3 following the nine-year tenure of Jennifer Whitley, who recently accepted a new position with the Township of Oro-Medonte.

Puhvel, originally from Montreal, graduated from Concordia University and Sir Sandford Fleming College and has gained substantial experience in non-profit management and marketing, most recently as the executive director with Friends of Killarney Park, where he worked for the past 17 years.

“We are excited to welcome Kris to the organization,” said Rob Furlonger, chair of Ontario’s Lake Country’s Board of Directors. "We look forward to the expertise and new perspectives he will bring to the role.”

Furlonger also emphasized the remarkable growth experienced by the organization under the leadership of Whitley. “We have been extremely fortunate to have benefitted from Jennifer’s skills and abilities over the past decade. The passion and dedication she brought to the organization has allowed us to grow into one of the premier destination marketing organizations in the province.”

As a long-time outdoor recreation advocate and avid cross country skier and paddler, Puhvel is thrilled to be re-locating to this area of the province. “I am looking forward to exploring Ontario’s Lake Country regions and experiences and getting to know the community," he said.

Puhvel will be working at the Ontario’s Lake Country office, located within the Orillia Community Development office, located at 22 Peter Street South in Orillia.

Ontario’s Lake Country is the destination marketing organization for the Orillia and area region. Positioned as “Orillia & area’s four-season playground,” Ontario’s Lake Country is funded by Casino Rama Resort and municipal partners: City of Orillia, Townships of Oro-Medonte, Severn and Ramara, and Chippewas of Rama First Nation.
