NEWS RELEASE
ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE
*************************
ORILLIA - The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Central Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) will be conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspections on Thursday May 17, 2018 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Highway 11.

The week of May 15-21 is Canada Road Safety Week. The OPP has always been dedicated to road safety through enforcement and education initiatives. During this one-day initiative inspections will be carried out to ensure identified CMVs meet the required safety standards to operate on our highways/roadways.

Drivers will be checked for compliance in relation to proper licencing, registration, documentation, pre-check inspections and hours of work.

Keeping roads safe and reducing the number of serious injuries and deaths should be the concern of everyone. CMV operators are professionals and are held to a higher standard as commercial Motor Vehicles, due to their size, weight and loads, have increased potential of causing serious motor vehicle collisions.

Please help keep our roads safe by doing your part in obeying traffic laws and driving according to conditions.
