OPP probing rash of vehicle thefts from Orillia Recreation Centre

According to police, wily thieves are going into the changerooms and taking car keys from the victims' unlocked lockers and stealing their vehicles

Are you heading to the Orillia Recreation Centre for a swim? Police advise you to bring a lock with your bathing suit.

The Orillia OPP are currently investigating a rash of vehicle thefts from the Orillia Recreation Centre on West Street.

According to police, wily thieves have been going into the changerooms and taking car keys from the unsuspecting victims' unlocked lockers.

To prevent yourself from being a victim, here are some helpful tips from the Orillia OPP:

  • Bring a lock and lock your locker;
  • Do not leave valuables in plain view;
  • Alternate your parking spots;
  • Park in well lit areas; and
  • Beware of surroundings
