Orillia dealership fills truck with donations for Sharing Place (3 photos)

Truck with 1,900 pounds of non-perishable food and cheque for $1,000 was presented by Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC to The Sharing Place Food Centre

An Orillia car dealership is once again stepping up to help the city's food bank this festive season.

Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC has been hosting a Fill the Truck Christmas Food Drive at the dealership in support of The Sharing Place for the past 12 years.

Whenever possible, the dealership enjoys participating in events that support the community.

Earlier this year, the local enterprise and its staff participated in events such as Trunk or Treat, Santa’s Orillia Tour, and the Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC Winter Classic Hockey Tournament.

Hosting the Christmas food drive tops off the year with a fun way to join together at the dealership and show support for Orillia and area.

This year the company donated a truckload of non-perishable food items - almost 1,900 pounds - as well as a $1,000 monetary donation, raised by dealership staff, owner Jim Wilson, and the dealership's 'wonderful' customers.

With food insecurity being a continual struggle in our community, along with the rising cost of groceries, we are just happy to be able to help out where we can, said a company official.
