The City of Orillia is excited to announce the Orillia Farmers’ Market will open for the season on Saturday, July 25.

The Orillia Farmers’ Market, located in the Orillia Public Library parking lot at the corner of Mississaga Street and West Street, will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Saturday with enhanced safety and cleaning protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thrilled to reopen the Orillia Farmers’ Market in Downtown Orillia and work with our local vendors to provide the outdoor market experience again. After a hiatus because of COVID-19, the return of our historic farmers’ market is something worth celebrating. New health and safety protocols will be in place to create a safe market experience for vendors and patrons as we continue to reopen amenities as part of the Province’s Stage 3 framework,” said Mayor Steve Clarke.

In order to operate a safe farmers’ market, we recommend no more than two patrons per household visit the market at one time. All patrons are encouraged to wear face coverings when entering the market area. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.

Traffic will flow one-way and there will be sanitation stations throughout the market. Please ensure six feet of physical distance is maintained with those outside of your household or social circle. There will be no outdoor seating or public washrooms available at this time.

Two-hour parking continues to be free in all municipal lots. Municipal lots closest to the market include lots 1, 7, 9 and 10. Metered parking is also free with a maximum length of 30 minutes designed to facilitate curbside pickup.

“The City is eager to re-engage our regular vendors and recruit new vendors to the Orillia Farmer’s Market in 2020. With the Farmers’ Market now reporting through the City’s Business Development and Communications Department, we look forward to implementing new and creative ways to breathe new life into the area’s longest running farmers’ market. We invite you to be a part of the market’s exciting future,” said Michael Ladouceur, Manager of Tourism.
