Two Orillia firefighters helped free a skunk that had a container stuck over its head. They managed the feat without getting sprayed by the skunk.

Orillia firefighters recently put their noses on the line when a smelly visitor showed up in need of help.

On Thursday morning, a skunk wandered up to Station 1 on Gill Street with a container stuck on its head.

It showed up at the right place.

Two firefighters worked together to free the distressed visitor, using a blanket to cover the skunk while another, very carefully, freed it from the container.

The skunk then wandered off before putting its heroes in a smelly situation.
