ORILLIA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Let your kids blow off some STEAM at the Orillia Public Library this March break, with train loads of free science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities to keep those creative little engines running all week long.

The family department invites you to create, play, mix, and mingle during “STEAM with a Theme.” This engaging, all-ages drop-in program runs Monday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. and will feature a different theme each day. On Monday, March 13 there will be a Harry Potter Science Party. Tuesday, March 14 will be a Jedi-approved Star Wars Tech Party. An engineering party based on the popular Netflix show Wednesday will run on (of course) Wednesday, March 14. And on Thursday, March 16 your little heroes and demi-gods can celebrate a Percy Jackson Art Party.

Perhaps you’d like to have your family re-enact your very own live-action March of the Penguins film? Drop in on Friday, March 17 between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and see if you can keep up with everyone’s favourite waddling, tuxedo-wearing, flightless marine birds as you follow the hilarious story, 365 Penguins, by Jean-Luc Fromental around the library.

And finally (before we completely run out of steam), you’re invited for some family fun on Monday, March 13 or Wednesday, March 15 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. This program will be chock-full of entertaining, silly, co-operative games and STEAM competitions for the whole family. (Recommended for ages four-plus. No registration is required but space will be limited.)
