A date has been chosen for what could be the resolution of the murder trial for the man accused of killing a Collingwood woman last year.
During a pre-trial court appearance Thursday morning (Oct. 26), the Crown and lawyers for Orillia resident John Collins agreed to come before Justice Michelle Fuerst again on Dec. 14, in-person to a Barrie courtroom for a plea hearing.
Collins, 57, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Collingwood real estate agent Kinga 'Kay' Kriston.
The 55-year-old woman was found dead in her Georgian Meadows home on Friday, June 10, 2022.
Kriston, a mother of a teenage girl, was described as an outdoor enthusiast who embraced her community.
Her death prompted an outpouring of sympathy and a vigil at Sunset Point drew a crowd, including the town’s then-acting mayor.
Collins was not in court on Thursday, as the matter was handled by his legal team and representatives from the Crown attorney's office.
The details of the pre-trial court appearances are subject to a publication ban.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
