ORILLIA OPP

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an assault on Coldwater Street in the City of Orillia.
On May 24, 2019 shortly after 9 p.m., Orillia OPP members were dispatched to a Coldwater Street address with reports of a fight in progress.
Police arrived on the scene and observed a male and female who sustained injuries as a result of the altercation.
The male and female were brought to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services where they were treated for their injuries.
Another male and female were arrested at the scene and lodged at the Orillia OPP detachment.
The Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) were called in to assist with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, police charged 35-year-old Michael Heathcote of Orillia with two counts of assault. He was held in custody then later released on a Justice of the Peace Recognizance and set to appear next on June 18, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
Megan Desjarlais, 32, also of Orillia, was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief Under $5,000. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
