NEWS RELEASE

The Orillia Youth Centre is once again proud to partner and work with the Home Depot Canada Foundation and our local Community Partner at the Orillia Home Depot located at 3225 Monarch Drive, Orillia for this December’s Orange Door Project running Dec. 3-22, 2019.

The Orange Door Project campaign is The Home Depot Canada’s fundraising campaign to help prevent and end youth homelessness in Canada.

From Dec. 3 –22 customers can donate $2 at the checkout in their local Home Depot store or on OrangeDoorProject.ca in support of the Orillia Youth Centre. Every dollar donated by customers in Orillia will stay in our local community, and support The Orillia Youth Centre.

The associates at The Orillia Home Depot Canada are as passionate about needing to prevent and end youth homelessness as we are. This campaign gives us the opportunity to rally our community in support of such a critical cause.

The Orange Door Project is The Home Depot Canada Foundation’s response to one of the most urgent social issues facing Canadians today – youth homelessness. On any given night, somewhere between 40-60 youth in the Orillia Area self-identify as being homeless,  are without a place to call home, and that has to change.

When you donate to the Orange Door Project at the Orillia Home Depot store, every dollar supports the work we do here at the Orillia Youth Centre with marginalized youth.  If you donate online at OrangeDoorProject.ca you can also attribute your donation to the Orillia Community so that we still receive your funds locally.

“At the Orillia Youth Centre we are working proactively to support youth before they become marginalized or to the point that they feel they need to leave home. While that preventative programming is steeped in best practices there are unfortunately youth who still fall through the cracks. While surveying over 1,800 youth in the community the statistics suggest that there is much work that still needs to be done," said Kevin Jon Gangloff, Director, Orillia Youth Centre.

"The money we raise at the Orillia Home Depot through the Orange Door Project is vital to the work we do with those specific youth. We can’t think of a more passionate team of workers than those we have partnered with over the last number of year at the Orillia Home Depot. We are so grateful for all that they have done to support youth in our community and at the Orillia Youth Centre."
