ORILLIA SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Soldiers’ Foundation president and CEO Mark Riczu declared an early victory this Thursday, announcing that the We Are All Soldiers’ campaign has reached its $20-million goal six months ahead of schedule.
The campaign’s objective is to make strategic investments in the hospital that will advance the excellent, compassionate care that the community has come to expect at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital
The We Are All Soldiers’ campaign imagined a hospital where quality health care was just down the street, central to the community we call home, a place where patients are more than a number, greeted with warmth and treated with a level of compassion unlike anywhere else.
“We may be ahead of schedule, but we aren’t going to stop pushing forward. I am excited to announce our new goal of $25 million. The entire Soldiers’ community has shown such generosity over the last four-and-a-half years. I know that support won’t stop any time soon because We Are All Soldiers’,” said Riczu.
With six months until the campaign deadline, Soldiers’ is looking to the community once again to help push the hospital further than ever before.
To date, the We Are All Soldiers’ campaign has helped with the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment like the new CT scanner and technological advancements like an upgraded central patient monitoring system. It has also invested heavily in staff education, professional development and overall well-being. According to Riczu, “Equipment and technology are critically important, but if there’s one thing the last two years has taught us it’s that the people who use that equipment are the key to our success as a hospital.”
Together, the community brought quality and compassionate care closer to home, but there is still work to be done. Soldiers’ is in urgent need of a new MRI, portable X-ray machines, and bedside patient monitors. These investments will enhance the patient experience, shorten wait times and help staff make the most of limited resources.
“With the support of the entire community behind us, we’re confident we will reach our new goal. Together, we’re investing even more into the health of our community as a whole,” continued Riczu.
