Outbreak at Samuel-de-Champlain School grows

There are six new COVID cases reported today at Simcoe County schools

There are six new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County today.

There are 52 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Nov. 10.

St. Bernadette Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one new case today, adding to one case previously reported at the school. The health unit declared an outbreak at the school as of Nov. 9.

St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie is reporting two cases, with three classrooms affected today.

St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford is reporting one new case, and one classroom affected.

Two more students at ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia have also tested positive for COVID-19. This adds to three students and one staff member previously reported at the school.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 10 confirmed active cases at nine schools listed. They are:

  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School, Barrie, one case, one classroom affected.
  • Guthrie Public School in Oro-Medonte Township, one case and one classroom affected
  • Huronia Centennial Elementary School in Elmvale is reporting one case and one classroom affected.
  • Honourable Earl Rowe Public School, Bradford, one case.
  • Nottawa Elementary School in Nottawa, one case and classroom affected
  • Shanty Bay Public School, one case, one classroom affected.
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie, one case, one classroom affected.
  • Bear Creek Secondary School, Barrie, two cases
  • Eastview Secondary School in Barrie, one case

Willow Landing Elementary School and Assikinack Public School, both in Barrie, are still in active outbreak according to the health unit. The school board is reporting all active cases at the both schools are now resolved.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 35 active cases spread across 12 schools:

  • Holy Cross Catholic School, Innisfil, seven cases, two affected classrooms. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 22.
  • Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie has one case and one classroom affected
  • Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case and one classroom affected
  • St. Angela Merici Catholic School, Bradford, two cases, three classrooms affected
  • St. Bernadette Catholic School, Barrie, two cases, two classrooms affected
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, nine cases and four classroom affected. This school has been in outbreak since Nov. 1.
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has one case, and one classroom affected
  • St. Mary's Catholic School, Collingwood, one case, one classroom affected
  • St. Monica's Catholic School in Barrie, one new case and one classroom affected
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie has two cases, with three classrooms affected
  • St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Barrie, two cases, three classrooms affected
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School, Barrie, six cases, 10 classrooms affected. Outbreak declared on Nov. 8

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported five students and one staff member who attend ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia have tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 10. Two classrooms have been affected, and the health unit has declared an active outbreak at the school.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board reported one active case on Oct. 29.

A private school in Simcoe County, which has not been identified by the health unit, is also reporting an outbreak. There are two cases associated with that outbreak.
