Outbreak declared at Severn Shores in Cumberland Beach

An outbreak has been declared at Severn Shores Public School in Cumberland Beach.

There are 13 new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County today.

There are 77 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Nov. 19.

As of Nov. 15, the Simcoe County District School Board has changed how it is reporting cases on its advisory board, deferring reporting on certain schools to the health unit. There are now four Barrie schools and one Cumberland Beach school that no longer have cases listed on the advisory board, with the health unit reporting cases at:

  • Severn Shores Public School (three new today, four cases total)
  • Terry Fox Elementary School (seven cases total)
  • W.C. Little Elementary School (one new today, eight cases total)
  • Emma King Public School (two new today, seven cases total)
  • Maple Grove Public School (five new today, 12 cases total)

The health unit does not report on affected classrooms.

A student at École secondaire catholique Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie has now tested positive according to the MonAvenir Catholic School Board, adding to one staff member case at the school previously reported by that board.

St. Ann's Catholic School in Penetanguishene is reporting one new case, and one affected classroom.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 45 confirmed active cases at eight schools according to their advisory board. In addition to the cases reported above by the health unit, they are:

  • Ardagh Bluffs Public School in Barrie, four cases, and three affected classrooms
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie, two cases
  • West Bayfield Elementary School in Barrie, one case and one affected classroom

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 15 active cases spread across seven schools:

  • Monsignor Clair Catholic School in Barrie has two new cases, and two affected classrooms.
  • St. Ann's Catholic School in Penetanguishene, one new case, and one affected classroom
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case
  • St. John Paul II Catholic School in Barrie is reporting two cases, and two affected classrooms
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has five cases, and two classrooms affected
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie has three cases, with six classrooms affected
  • St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland, one case, with two affected classrooms

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported six cases (five students and one staff member) who attend ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia that have tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 10. Two classrooms have been affected. At the same board, one staff member and one student have tested positive at École secondaire catholique Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie.

At the Conseil scolaire Viamonde, École secondaire Le Caron in Penetanguishene has seven confirmed cases as of Nov. 19.

Currently active school outbreaks according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit are:

  • West Bayfield Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 18, six cases
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 18, three cases
  • Severn Shores Public School, Cumberland Beach, declared Nov. 18, four cases
  • Emma King Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 17, seven cases
  • Maple Grove Public School, Barrie, declared Nov. 16, 12 cases
  • St. Joan of Arc Secondary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 16, two cases
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation, Bradford, declared Nov. 15, three cases
  • Monsignor Clair Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 15, five cases
  • W.C. Little Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 12, eight cases
  • Nottawa Elementary School, Clearview Township, declared Nov. 12, three cases
  • Terry Fox Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 10, seven cases.
  • St. Bernadette Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 9, two cases.
  • St. Peters Secondary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 8, six cases.
  • Unnamed private school in Simcoe County, declared Nov. 8, two cases.
  • ECC Samuel-de-Champlain public school, Orillia, declared Nov. 3, nine cases
  • St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 1, 10 cases
