Pedestrian struck, injured in Highway 11 collision

The pedestrian suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the incident that closed the highway, in both directions, for several hours

A pedestrian suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 11 last night.

The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night near Line 13, just south of Orillia.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured pedestrian on the southbound shoulder. As a result, the highway was closed in both directions for the investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to Orillia's Soldiers' Memorial Hospital by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

It's not known why the pedestrian was on the highway.

All lanes of Highway 11, both northbound and southbound, were closed for several hours, but have since been reopened.
