Police today revealed a little bit more information surrounding the weekend death of 19-year-old Lucas Dunlop.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP revealed the Sebright teen was struck by a vehicle in the Joyland Beach area late Saturday night.

According to a media release issued this afternoon, the teen was initially transported to a nearby residence where his condition deteriorated. Emergency services were eventually called at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday morning. The victim was pronounced deceased at the residence.

Initially, police reported he was struck and killed in the Ramara Township area.

Today’s media release says police have identified and seized the vehicle involved in the incident.

OrilliaMatters asked police who transported the victim to a residence and asked if the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and if any chargers were pending.

OPP Const. Jackie Hildenbrand could not shed much light on the ongoing investigation.

“The driver has been identified. The investigation is continuing and further information will be released when available,” Hildenbrand said in an email.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of Detective Inspector Scott Moore of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch .

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at (705) 324-6741 or 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous information can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by going to www.khcs.ca and submitting a tip online.
