Popular Orillia Fall Fair takes centre stage this weekend at ODAS Park

It's the 169th annual fall fair; Three-day event is jam-packed with agricultural-themed shows, midway, entertainment, food and much more

Do you feel that? Fall is in the air!

And that means it’s fall fair season.

This weekend, the season officially gets underway with the 169th Orillia Fall Fair presented by the Orillia & District Agricultural Society.

The three-day, action-packed event, with deep agricultural roots, gets underway Friday at noon when the Exhibit Hall and Vendors’ Market at ODAS Park opens its doors.

The popular Homeniuk Midway will begin welcoming thrill-seekers at 4 p.m., which is also when the petting zoo and pony rides begin. At 5 p.m., the Moonwalk Inflatables will open. Those attractions will be ongoing throughout the weekend.

The opening day is capped off by the Ambassador of the Fair competition at 7:30 p.m.

Throughout the weekend are sheep shows, interactive rabbitry, dairy shows, 4H Club shows, a Western games and horse show, cattle shows, beef shows, poultry competition and other events focused on agriculture, such as the fun-filled Farm Olympics.

In addition, there’s entertainment in the form of magic shows, Scottish dancers and musical performers. Of course, there’s lots of food on the menu as well in addition to a seniors show and other attractions.

One of the most popular fair events is the demolition derby, which will be the feature attraction on Saturday at 2 p.m. You can also cheer on the tractor pull participants, be amazed by daring manoeuvres from FMX bikers or play horseshoes.

Admission price is $8 for adults on Friday and $10 Saturday and Sunday. Youth aged 14-17 and seniors 65+ pay just $7, while children aged 5-13 get in for $4. There are also weekend passes available. Parking is free.
