A local, mom-owned business, Sun Safe On The Lake, has been announced as a semi-finalist in a Canada-wide grant opportunity with the Total Mom Pitch.

The Total Mom Pitch takes place across the country annually, to provide mom-owned businesses with the chance for a $50,000 grant that includes funding, resources and public exposure to help them grow.

The sun protective clothing company from Georgian Bay stands out with its commitment to being made in Canada, environmentally friendly and convenient designs for moms (and dads). Sun Safe On The Lake is owned by Jen Scobie, who couldn’t find sun clothing that provided consistent and natural protection, so she started designing her own in 2020 and then tested it on her kids.

“I want to enjoy all the benefits of living life outdoors with my kids and keep everyone sun safe, so to be a semi-finalist in the Total Mom Pitch is such a wonderful opportunity to grow, raise awareness for sun safety and learn along the way.”

Sun Safe On The Lake UPF 50+ clothing can be found online at www.sunsafeonthelake.ca, with their adult sizing launching in May. Find them in person at Cook’s Bay Marina, Gilford for the Mom’s Day Out Market on Saturday, May 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Voting continues for the Total Mom Pitch until May 4, 2023 on the website
