NEWS RELEASE
RAMARA 4-H CLUB
*************************
Our first Ramara 4-H Award banquet took place on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

We started up last spring with 15 kids and two clubs. The Gardening Club where we built garden boxes, started seed, transplanted our vegetables and cared for them until harvest time. The Baking Club where we made cookies, squares, pies and decorated cakes. We used fruit as it came in season for our baking.

At our banquet, we enjoyed tomatoes we grew and made into tomato sauce and lovely apple crisp from the apples we peeled and made into apple pie mix this past fall.

We had our Achievement Day at the Brechin Scarecrow Festival held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017. The 4-H members volunteered to run the kids zone stations. We also had a booth displaying our produce we grew as well as sold coffee and cookies as a fundraiser to help keep the cost down for future clubs.

At our banquet, all of our members received a garden tool and a spatula with the 4-H emblem, their name and 2017 engraved in them.

Awards were presented to the following members:

  • Top Member: Amber Montgomery
  • The Head Award: Mason Montgomery
  • The Heart Award: Sydney Allen
  • The Hands Award: Joe Lasci
  • The Health Award: Megan Duffy

At this time we would like to thank, Washago Rotary, Janet Stead, Dan Herbert, Lori Chalmers and Debbie Boychoff for helping our Ramara 4-H get up and running. We do appreciate your help and contributions.
