The Township of Ramara, in partnership with the Brechin Foodland, Ramara Public Library, Ramara Firefighter Association and Susan Potalivo, are launching the Holiday Giving Food Drive campaign from Nov. 29 to Dec. 13 to help meet the needs of families in the community.

Similar to other events around Simcoe County, we focus on delivering support to families in need by following all safety measures and public health guidelines.

Last year, the Twelve Days of Giving Food Drive campaign raised $13,478.55 and supported 27 local families in the Ramara community.

"Given the challenges that many of our residents faced over the last 18 months, events like the Holiday Giving Food Drive show the immeasurable generosity and support of our small community," reports Mayor Basil Clarke.

"Last year we were grateful for the financial support from residents and businesses, and I am confident that we will be able to reach or surpass the goal of $10,000 with the continued local support."

The goal this year is to raise $10,000 or more in either cash and/or gift card donations that will be distributed to local families in need.

With the money raised, each family will receive a food hamper and gift cards to purchase toys.

All donations, either money or gift cards, can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Township Administration Building
  • Ramara Public Library branches (both Ramara Centre and Brechin location)

The Ramara Firefighters Association will also hold their annual 'Stamp Out Hunger' boot drive on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021. All proceeds raised will go towards raising $10,000 for children and families in the community. More details on the location will be advertised through the Township of Ramara social media accounts.

All proceeds raised will go towards raising $10,000 for children and families in the community. Residents are asked for their continued generosity and support in helping those most in need in our area. For more information, please visit www.ramara.ca/holidaygiving/
