The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a charge in relation to an assault on a lacrosse referee in the City of Orillia.

On Friday, June 14, 2019 shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to a call for an assault at Rotary Place in Orillia.

Upon arrival police observed the male victim to be bleeding as a result of a physical altercation. The victim was assaulted after a verbal dispute. 

Police conducted an investigation and formed grounds to charge 47-year-old Dwayne Palomaki with Assault Causing Bodily Harm Contrary to Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code.

On June 15, 2019 the suspect was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2019.
