Resurrected Bocce Bash raises $14K for YouthReach

Oro-Medonte event's success allows organization to provide grants to more than 50 kids in region
Bocce Bash took place in June in Oro-Medonte.

On Saturday, June 10, the Bocce Bash returned and raised an astounding $14,130 for YouthReach.

The funds raised will enable YouthReach to give grants to just over 50 kids.

All children dream of participating in extracurricular programs. For thousands of kids across Simcoe County, the demands on their family’s finances don’t leave room for these vital developmental activities; these children miss out on valuable life experiences.

Kids face more daily challenges, dealing with isolation, being away from friends, and having no outlet for activities. The impact this may have had on our kids’ mental health is yet to be determined. The demand to support kids getting into programs that help them feel connected to a community and give them some sense of normalcy is more crucial than ever.

Held at a private venue in Oro-Medonte, a group of caring, philanthropic individuals fully organized and orchestrated Bocce Bash, a full day of two-team bocce games, culminating in a sunset final match between the previous trophy contenders and a duo that couldn’t be stopped all day long.

“The YouthReach team is honoured that this wonderful fundraising event has been resurrected, with our small organization receiving the gift of their efforts. It was a fun day, and we couldn’t be happier to turn this into 50 smiling kids signing up for activities,” said YouthReach executive director Jeanette Heywood.

Bocce courts were generously sponsored, as were many other aspects of the day. Thank you to all sponsors.
