Rain had slowed, water levels had receded, creating favourable conditions for a hike through the woods

The Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club invited members of the public to join them on an Easter Weekend hike at Scout Valley.

Amazingly, although it was overcast and cool, the rain held off until we finished the hike. Quite a few new hikers joined us, and everyone was enthusiastic about our beautiful Scout Valley.

We were feeling fortunate about the trail conditions which, while muddy with puddles in places, still allowed hikers to complete a loop of the nature park just west of Orillia.

Earlier, things had looked dicey. On the pre-hike the day before, there was a lot more surface water and we certainly couldn’t have completed a loop then.
