Rick Stephenson will perform his version of If You Could Read My Mind during Orillia Concert Band show May 11 and 12

NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA CONCERT BAND
*************************
Announcing the world premiere of Rick Stephenson’s version of Gordon Lightfoot’s If You Could Read My Mind.

This premiere, during the Orillia Concert Band’s Frank Sinatra Comes Home to Orillia concert on May 11 and 12, is being sung in Gordon Lightfoot’s hometown of Orillia and in Gordon Lightfoot’s lifelong church of St. Paul’s, where he started as an altar boy, where he sang with the St. Paul’s choir and where his funeral was held. There could be no better venue for this premiere.

Rick Stephenson’s version of If You Could Read My Mind, arranged by his longtime friend and pianist, John Brown, is being included in a new album Rick is currently in the studio recording called Singin’ for Sinatra. Rick is continuing Frank’s legacy by selecting songs he knows Sinatra would love to have sung given the chance.

An interesting side story about a relationship between Frank Sinatra and Gordon Lightfoot: Sinatra started his own recording label, Reprise, with the desire to provide a venue for artists to have more control over their work than was being provided by contemporary studios. Gordon Lightfoot was one of the performers who signed up with Reprise.

Rick Stephenson is delighted the stars have aligned for him to be able to sing his premiere of If You Could Read My Mind in Orillia. Tickets are selling out fast for Saturday’s performance, but there are plenty of tickets available for the Sunday afternoon’s Mother’s Day show. Give your mum a treat and bring her to a concert she will really connect with. Tickets available online. (Limited tickets will be available, cash only, at the door for those who cannot purchase online tickets.)
