Tim Hortons restaurant owners and millions of generous Canadians across the country combined broke a new Smile Cookie record by raising more than $12 million for local charities across the country.

This year in Orillia, local Tim Hortons restaurant owners and guests helped raise more than $55,000 to support The Lighthouse. The funds raised will be used for the operations and programs of The Lighthouse Community Services & Supportive Housing.

“It has been a great privilege and joy to partner with the local Tim Hortons franchises for the past three years as the Smile Cookie campaign recipients,” stated Lynn Thomas, Development and Communications manager of The Lighthouse.

“We were so pleased to surpass the initial goal of $100,000 for our capital campaign through the Smile Cookie campaign Orillia to build and brand our Tim Hortons Coffee Centre within our new dining room. Tim Hortons have gone above and beyond by choosing our application for an additional year of Smile Cookies for our inaugural year of operations in our new location at 75 Queen St. E.," said Thomas.

“Each and every year, Tim Hortons restaurant owners continue to go above and beyond to help raise funds for our annual Smile Cookie campaign and it’s truly inspiring to be a part of something so great and impactful,” says Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer for Tim Hortons.

Tim Hortons Orillia locations are an ongoing sponsor of key fundraising events of The Lighthouse and further contributed to the Tim Hortons Coffee Centre in our new dining room by donating 300 branded china mugs and a start-up donation of four months of Tim Hortons coffee.

"The franchise owners are very supportive of what The Lighthouse does for the community and we are proud to have their names on our project," said Thomas.

At a cheque presentation in front of the Tim Hortons Coffee Centre in the Tanton Cafe at The Lighthouse on Friday, Oct. 29, the franchise owners - Carolyn and Ron Harris and Valerie and Doug Hale - presented The Lighthouse management team with a cheque for $55,754! That’s a lot of cookies!

“We are beyond excited and appreciative of the Hales, Harris’s, their managers and team and also every Orillia and area customer who supported the Smile Cookie campaign this year," said Thomas.

"We’d also like to thank Home Hardware for allowing us to set up a display and have team members on site for three days of Smile Cookie Week to talk to the public and sell dozens of cookies to their customers. Thank you also to our team of staff and volunteers who decorated cookies and manned the display at Home Hardware,” said Thomas.

Tim Hortons restaurant owners across Canada will be presenting their local charity partners with Smile Cookie cheques throughout the next month.
