Special weather alert predicts heavy rainfall in Barrie, Collingwood, Midland, Orillia this weekend

As of 5 a.m. this morning, Environment Canada issued the following weather alert for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Significant rainfall expected this weekend.

What: Rainfall, with localized amounts reaching 50 to 100 mm over the next couple of days.

Where: Portions of southern Ontario.

When: Now through this weekend.

Discussion: An area of showers or thunderstorms have entered the region and will last through much of the weekend. Plenty of moisture in the atmosphere will allow rain to fall heavy at times.
