ORILLIA DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Orillia Spring Boat, Cottage, and Green Technology Show, organized by the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, is happening this weekend at the Port of Orillia.

Final preparations are underway in anticipation of the arrival of the dozens of vendors who will begin rolling in early Friday morning.

While this morning’s weather was wet and gloomy, the forecast for the weekend looks promising and show organizers are hoping to see attendance numbers reminiscent of 2019, when thousands of visitors were on hand to take in the sights and sounds of the show and enjoy a day at Orillia’s gorgeous waterfront park.

The show is open to the public and there is no admission fee. The show hours are Friday, June 10, from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There is free parking available in the waterfront lots as the City of Orillia has discontinued the parking program that was in place during 2020 and 2021.

Attendees can expect a variety of vendors, live music, and local artisans showcasing their work. On the docks there will be private and dealer boat sales, and for those not quite ready for boat ownership, Carefree Boat Club will be showcasing its services and also raffling off a paddleboard.

Sunshine BBQ will be on site offering a variety of fresh-grilled food, and for those looking for a dine-in experience there are three options located right at the waterfront, with many more unique restaurants just steps away in downtown Orillia.

This year the spring boat show, which has been a staple in Orillia since the late ’80s, has started a new chapter in its history, adopting a “green technology” theme. The Orillia District Chamber of Commerce’s goal in the coming years is to morph the show into a showcase for sustainable boat, cottage; , and outdoor lifestyle innovations. This year, Sustainable Orillia will be on site, as well as vendors showcasing environmentally friendly products like folding bikes and solar generators.

Coming up later this month is Christmas in June, and plans are underway for a spectacular blowout on Labour Day weekend with the Port of Orillia Pirate Party.
