If you see some well-groomed people doing a two-step today it's because we're in Step Two and that means haircuts and outdoor live music events are back on the table.

According to the Roadmap to Reopen, some COVID-related restrictions have been loosened as of 12:01 a.m. this morning, allowing libraries, shopping malls, and overnight camps to reopen and permitting more outdoor activities like larger gatherings, fitness classes, amusement and water parks, and sports games and league events.

Here's a list of all the activities now permitted under Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen:

  • Outdoor social gatherings and organized public events for up to 25 people
  • Indoor social gatherings and organized public events for up to 5 people
  • Outdoor dining for up to 6 people per table
  • Essential and other select retail permitted at 50% capacity
  • Non-essential retail capacity at 25%
  • Stores in shopping malls open, with restrictions
  • Larger indoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services, capped at the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two metres
  • Overnight camps
  • Personal care services where face coverings can be worn at all times at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor fitness classes are capped at the number of people who can maintain three metres of distance
  • Public libraries permitted at 25% capacity
  • Fairs and rural exhibitions can run outdoor activities at 25% capacity
  • Tours and guide services can open for outdoor activities with a capacity of 25 per cent.
  • Outdoor meeting and event spaces at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor amusement and water parks at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor sports games, leagues and events at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor cinemas, performing arts, live music events and attractions at 25% capacity
  • Outdoor horse racing and motor speedways at 25% capacity

The province is supposed to stay in Step Two for 21 days before moving to Step Three, which includes expanded indoor activities where face coverings won't always be worn.

Each step of the roadmap comes with vaccination rate thresholds that must be reached before moving on. However, the province has already reached the targets set out in Step Three.

Indoor facilities like museums, recreation facilities, and indoor pools and fitness centres in hotels must remain closed for Step Two.
