NEWS RELEASE
ARTS ORILLIA
***************************
Calling everyone with a story!

Join Arts Orillia for the second edition of Theatre and Cross Creativity — a theatre project for positive community change. This year we’re focusing on intergenerational sharing. Arts Orillia is seeking 20 players – 10 members from the senior community (over 65) and 10 members from the youth community (under 25), to engage in a creative theatre and storytelling process leading to a community performance demonstration at the Orillia Opera House Studio Theatre. This is an accessible space.

You will collaborate with Iain Moggach, artistic director from Theatre by the Bay and Clara McBride, artistic director of Amphibious Works and theatre arts coordinator of Act II Studio for Programs 50+ at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Come with an open heart each day from April 23 to 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. to the Orillia Opera House. A light meal will be offered during a dinner break.

What to expect? You might be asked to tell your story – write it down – tell it again while moving – tell it again using a mask – or a costume – or a prop! You’ll work collaboratively with these industry pros – Clara, Iain, and your Theatre and Cross Creativity team to create a devised performance demonstration for the local community.

We’re excited to work with you as we create an experience where people share, listen, and learn about new perspectives. Be a part of a project that’s helping to build a community culture where exciting exchanges take place in the interest of inter-generational bridging!

This experience is for you if you're between 13 and 25 or 65 and 105! Please participate regardless of your experience on the stage! Bring a photograph, keepsake, or object that helps you tell your story, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle! Don’t miss the fun – and the chance to meet someone in your community who may have a story that you should know about! Sign up here.
