A woman who was pulled over for Highway Traffic Act offences did not go quietly into the night and is now facing a slew of drug-related charges and resisting arrest.

Orillia OPP officers stopped a vehicle just before 10 p.m. Saturday night near the intersection of Fittons Road and Peter Street, notes a media release from the Orillia OPP.

Police soon discovered she was breaching several release conditions.

"Upon further investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted and a substantial amount of suspected drugs and trafficking paraphernalia were located and seized," noted the media release.

The female allegedly then resisted arrest, leading to further charges.

Shantel Rolland, 35, of Kilworthy has been charged with the following;

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (two counts)
  • Resist peace officer (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
