Coming off the heels of another successful Bowl for Kids Sake, Harvey’s owner and operator Laura Dickson is excited to announce that 10% of sales during their grand reopening on May 12 will be donated to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia & District.

“I am super proud of my team at Harvey’s and how much they give back to the community. Just this past April they were named the top fundraising team for Big Brothers Big Sisters annual Bowl for Kids Sake," said Laura Dickson, owner and operator of Harvey’s.

If you visited Harvey’s during the month of March, you may have been asked to donate $2 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia. Overall, the team at Harvey’s raised in excess of $1,500 through their point of sale donations which assisted the team with their Bowl for Kids Sake fundraising efforts. “We don’t want our giving back to stop just because the bowling event has passed. We want to keep raising funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters!” added Dickson.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have such a kind and caring individual involved with our agency,” said James Maxwell, Executive Director with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia. “Since the beginning when Laura enrolled her daughter Cheyanne into our In School Mentoring program, Laura has been a great advocate for the work we do here. Being a non-profit, non-government funded agency we rely on individuals like Laura to help spread the word of our needs and to assist us with our fundraising efforts.”

For Dickson, it's personal. “You see my connection with BBBS is quite personal. They have made a huge impact for my daughter and I figured what better way to repay them for all they have done then to continue to give back through our restaurant,” she said.

“If you haven’t been a Little Sister and/or a mother of a Little Sister, it’s really hard to explain adequately how this program can have such a huge impact on your life. I know Cheyanne’s experience has helped her greatly," says Dickson.

“As a result of this great work, I too received such a benefit from Big Brothers Big Sisters that I’m not only supporting the agency through my restaurant and my donations, I’ve decided to invest my time as a volunteer board member and as a Big Sister.”

Be sure to join in the celebrations on Saturday, May 12 at the Orillia Harvey’s located at 370 Memorial Ave beginning at 10:30 a.m. Guests will be treated to chances to win prizes along with great food and fun all in support of a great cause!
