This 'Holiday Inn' in Brechin featured his and hers outhouses

Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

This novelty card from the 1950s has 'Holiday Inn, Lake Simcoe, Brechin' printed on the bottom and would have been sold by the local merchants in Brechin. It's not what many might have thought upon hearing the words, Holiday Inn, which many associate with the international hotel chain.

This is one example of the many postcards produced for mass distribution to promote the community. We can speculate that several shops in Brechin sold postcards including Graham’s Hardware, Holmes Groceries, Hugh’s Hardware and perhaps even Miller’s Garage, still in business on King Street, Brechin’s main thruway.
