Doug Murray, executive vice president – corporate services and CFO at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for seven years, has resigned to take a similar job in Kitchener.

One of the people instrumental in helping Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) post seven straight balanced budgets is leaving the institution’s senior management team.

Doug Murray has served as Executive Vice President – Corporate Services/Chief Financial Officer at OSMH for seven years. He has accepted the position of Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener.

Murray’s last day at OSMH is Sept. 14.

He played a key role at the hospital. As executive VP, he was the most senior vice-president and was second-in-command to the CEO.

Murray, in his corporate services role, had oversight of delivery of programs and services across the hospital, such as facilities operations, security, information services, health records, finance and decision support, payroll, registration and scheduling, food services, diagnostic services, and materials management

As the hospital’s chief financial officer, Murray had a number of different obligations as far as maintaining the financial matters of the hospital and reporting those results to the board and the corporate members.

Murray was also the “executive sponsor” of the future hospital project.

In each of the seven years of his tenure, OSMH had balanced budgets.

Terry Dyni,  director of community relations at OSMH, said “work is underway to recruit an interim CFO.”

It's the second significant change at the hospital's highest levels in recent months. In May, OSMH hired Carmine Stumpo as its new president and CEO, replacing Pat Campbell, who retired after four years in that position.

Stumpo began his new job July 16.
