Springwater’s mayor will be in court next fall for a two-day trial surrounding charges of impaired and dangerous driving stemming from a June incident.

Don Allen’s case will go to a two-day trial to take place on Sept. 17 and 23.

According to a news release from Huronia West OPP issued on Aug. 6, Allen, 67, was charged with impaired and dangerous driving after a June 26 incident.

Police report they received a traffic complaint and officers responded to the call at a business parking lot on Wilson Drive in Springwater Township, where witnesses allegedly saw an impaired driver leaving the lot.

The news release said officers conducted patrols of the area, but could not locate the vehicle.

"The investigation into this occurrence has now led police to charge the driver of the vehicle," the release states.

The charges have not yet been proven in court.
