Trio of experts will evaluate your antiques, heirlooms Saturday

The Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH) is excited to announce an expert filled line- up for this week’s What’s it Worth antique evaluation event!

We will again be joined by Julie Riches from Riches Appraisal & Consult (International Society of Appraisers). Having worked within the decorative arts industry for over a decade, Julie has amassed a broad range of knowledge across many disciplines.

Areas of expertise include Silver, Art Glass, Porcelain, Ceramics, Bronzes, Sculptures, Fine Art, Furniture, Coins and Military items. Julie works with private collectors, historical institutions, trust officers, estate lawyers, executors and real estate agents.

Joining Julie at OMAH on Saturday, Aug. 17 between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. will be experts Carl Black and Marcel Rousseau.

Carl Black has been actively collecting military memorabilia for over 30 years. You may have seen some of his collection at the Orillia Public Library’s annual Remembrance Day Event. He specializes in Canadian military memorabilia from 1796 to the present day.

Marcel Rousseau is a prominent local historian, researcher and collector of Orilliana - including postcards, documents and photographs. Marcel has a special interest in Industrial Orillia, with areas of focus on photos and items made in Orillia including Otaco Toys, Tudhope and Fisher Ice Cream Scoops, Dairy items, Soda Bottles and Porcelain Signs.

Marcel is also an accomplished local author, penning books on Orillia’s history, such as Postcard Memories Orillia, Orillia’s Camp 26, A brief history of Orillia Dairies, Porcelain and Metal Products, and Vollans Industries and the National Lock Co.

The event is a fundraising initiative for OMAH and proceeds will go to support the conservation of the museum’s collection.
