TWIN LAKES SECONDARY SCHOOL

This week, the Twin Lakes Secondary School Jazz Band traveled to Ottawa to represent our school, and Orillia, at Musicfest Nationals.
This is an invite-only event, at the national level, where selected bands from across Canada are able participate and compete, noted Christina Bosco, the school's arts department chair and music director.
Our Jazz Band was one of the selected bands and achieved a national silver medal.
The Thunder Jazz have been rehearsing since September of 2018 and brought their A game to the event, said Bosco.
She said the band featured soloists from Grades 10-12. Among these were:
Alto saxophonists: Kyle Roddick (Grade 12) and Kellan MacDonald (Grade 10)
Tenor saxophonists: Greyson Martin (Grade 10) and Hailey Montgomery (Grade 11)
Trumpets: Mathew Gordon and Allisa Nicholson (Grade 11)
Trombone: Veda Sharpe (Grade 11)
Guitar: Matthew Marzano (Grade 10)
Drums: Zac Waite (Grade 10)
"We owe our success to the many Orillia volunteers who came in to work with us," said Bosco, who thanked Robin Watson, Curtis Metcalfe, Randy Hoover, and Twin Lakes graduate Sara Villa.
"Our Thunderbirds were so proud of their performance and are anxiously awaiting rehearsals to begin for next year's competition," said Bosco. "For now they will bask in their success and enjoy some rest and relaxation."
Band members include: Kyle Roddick, Kellan MacDonald, Greyson Martin, Hailey Montgomery, Sam Palmer, Matthew Gordon, Allisa Nicholson, Pyler Uchacz, William Rae, Veda Sharpe, Jazlyn Peterson, Ruslan Armanatov, Georgie McCrae, Matthew Marzano, Jennie Davis, Zac Waite and Derek Ryan.
