Today, the Township of Oro-Medonte joined other municipalities across Canada declaring support for the continued sovereignty of Ukraine, and the safety and freedom of the country’s people, by raising the flag of Ukraine at the Township Administration Centre.

Members of Oro-Medonte council were joined by Simcoe North MP Adam Chambers, Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP Doug Shipley’s constituency assistant, Errin Dickins, and Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MPP Doug Downey, to mark this extremely important moment in history.

Mayor Harry Hughes commented that “the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is something we should all be aware of and show our support.

“The Township of Oro-Medonte is home to many Ukrainian families who have family in Ukraine experiencing unimaginable fear. It was an honour to stand with fellow members of Oro-Medonte council and MP Adam Chambers, MP Doug Shipley, represented by constituency assistant Errin Dickins, and MPP Doug Downey to collectively show our support for Ukraine’s besieged citizens under Russian attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ukraine and its citizens," said Hughes.
