A vehicle crashed into a home at Silver Creek Estates Wednesday afternoon.

An elderly man driving a Hummer veered off the road on J.V. Parkway around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and plowed through the garage door of a Silver Creek Estates home.

Susan Bowman, who lives across the road, witnessed the accident.

“(The car) hit the garage and wrecked the hydro in the house,” she said, noting the driver of the vehicle lives just up the street.

“The man was in an ambulance,” she said. “He walked out, he was talking, and walking on his own power.”

Bowman says at least 10 emergency services personnel responded to the accident. She also says the homeowners were in the house during the crash.

“The man came out the door with his wife to see what had happened,” Bowman said, noting that there were no cars in the garage. “The garage is missing a part of the wall and it banged into the house too.”

Bowman says the homeowners did not appear to be injured.

Neither Orillia OPP nor Severn Fire have responded to requests for comment.
