VIDEO: Check out our podcast on See You on the Patio controversy

DOMB decision to limit popular downtown program sparked controversy, prompted city council to get involved and helped resurrect the concept

Few issues have generated such grassroots, universal disappointment as the Downtown Orillia Management Board’s (DOMB) recent decision to dramatically scale back the popular See You on the Patio program.

That decision sparked a storm of controversy, prompted letters to the editor and led frustrated downtown merchants to canvass, in person, local store owners to garner feedback.

City council stepped up and has offered up to $10,000 to support the program. The DOMB then opted to reverse its decision and is now working on a business plan to support its return.

It seemed like the perfect issue to tackle as part of our Inside the Village podcast, featuring OrilliaMatters community editor Dave Dawson and Ward 1 Coun. Ted Emond. Check it out!
