CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN ORILLIA

Switching from their usual in-person Homes Tour to a Virtual Tour this year was a leap of faith for the members of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Orillia.
The Homes for Scholarships tour is a major fundraiser for the organization which awards scholarships to Orillia and area young women who are pursuing post-secondary education.
That leap of faith turned out to exceed all expectations set out by the organizing committee. In all, 543 people from across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Asia registered to attend the virtual tour that was held on June 6. Approximately $26,500 was raised during this year's event.
CFUW Orillia thanks the five local homeowners who opened their homes this year. Attendees of the virtual event were also treated to vignettes hosted by local businesses, Long Way Home, Era 67/Northern Joinery, Scott's Nurseries/M.J. Crawford, Le Petit Chapeau, and Quayle's Brewery.
Included in the virtual tour were local dignitaries who added messages of support and previous scholarship winners shared what winning a scholarship meant to them.
The virtual tour was supported by over 50 local businesses and individuals in terms of both sponsorships as well as 10 amazing door prizes that were won by participants. The Platinum Sponsor of the event was John Mayo, BMO Nesbitt Burns.
CFUW Orillia has awarded $303,025 in scholarship to 685 women since 1974. CFUW Orillia is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization that is open to women of all educational backgrounds who believe in our goals and value life-long learning.
