Students at Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School could teach others about giving.
This year marked the school’s third year hosting a Relay for Life event to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
At this year’s event on June 1, more than 300 students participated in the fundraiser which started at 10 a.m. and wrapped up 12 hours later, at 10 p.m.
Teacher Christina Healy, who helps organize the event as a teacher advisor, announced today the school raised a whopping $23,390 and noted funds are still coming in!
Fogarty students have raised more and more each year, Healy said. The first year, about $13,000 was raised and last year, about $25,000 was generated. The three-year total is now over $61,000 – money that goes to help those living with cancer.
