Young local rockers rake in $1,040 for Sharing Place

Band members raised money while performing at the end of their driveway in Ramara Township

When three young musicians began performing at the end of a driveway to raise money for The Sharing Place Food Centre, they set a goal of $300.

After word got out about the efforts of Seven Days Past members Cole Perreault, 10, Carter Perreault, 11, and Tanner Greenwood, 10, the community responded and, on Monday, the kids handed over $1,040 to Sharing Place executive director Chris Peacock.

The vast majority of that was collected on the weekend as they played live music on Orkney Beach Road in Ramara.

They were happy to support the cause, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, because, as rhythm guitarist Greenwood told OrilliaMatters last week, “People can’t really afford food. We knew we had to do something because people need food. Everyone matters.”

The band members thank everyone who donated.
