The 17-year-old charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jordan Carter-Bonfield is currently out on bail ahead of his preliminary hearing scheduled to begin in June.
The accused cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
“He is on judicial interim release and preliminary hearing dates have been set,” said David Heath, lawyer for the accused when reached on Friday by OrilliaMatters.
Andrew Franklin, 20, of Orillia, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Donnie Johnson, 44, and Miles Mathias, 33, both from Orillia, were also charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and two counts each of breach of probation in relation to the death.
They will next appear in court Jan. 15.
After a warrant had been issued for his arrest back in September, on Oct. 22, 2018, Orillia's Zachary Jones-Sheppard, 24, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and obstructing a peace officer, also in relation to the death.
Emergency crews responded to the parking lot of Tim Hortons on Westmount Drive in Orillia on July 30, 2018 at about 7:30 a.m., where Carter-Bonfield, 25, was found in medical distress, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
