Action heats up in Orillia Lady Kings lacrosse program

House league teams battle it out at West Orillia Sports Complex

Week 2 saw lots of action at the West Orillia Sports Complex as all fields at the facility were finally open. The players did not disappoint as games were hotly contested throughout the evening.

Little Lady Kings games would see TD Canada Trust scoring by Molly Bergeron and Rian Stevens being all that was needed as they shut-out Pepper Haulage 2-0. Another 2-0 shutout by Scetto Construction over Mariposa Landscaping was thanks to the two-goal effort of Ryleigh McGuire and a complete team effort on defence.

Sunshine BBQ would hand Freeman’s Auto Source a 7-4 defeat in U11 action. Two-goal efforts from Hayley Ball and Ryley Black would help guide goalie Alexandra Elliot to the win. Single markers came from the sticks of Jade Shilling, Mya Roe and Danika Tindale. Avery Knee, Emersyn McLaughlin, Allyson McMullen and Isabelle Macchia would reply for the auto crew. In game two, R&F Construction and Telford Property Management would play to a 3-3 tie. Brooke-Lyn May with a pair and Kaelyn McDonald led the construction crew while Emma Pilger, Alyssa Glass and Camryn Knee scored for Telford Property Management.

Close scores would continue in U13/U15 H/L action as Champlain Ready Mix and Tryon Construction would play to a 5-5 sister kisser. Leading the way for Tryon Construction would be Sarah Fagan notching four goals and Charlotte Cherubin notching her own marker. Grace Yakeley would net a hat trick herself while single goals from Sophie King and Kate Beausoleil would round out the scoring to cement the tie for Champlain Ready Mix. Goalies Megan Duffy and Paige Paddon both played valiantly for their teams. Peak Engineering would manage to score one more goal than their opponents, Bradley Homes, escaping with a 5-4 victory. Hailey Decock with a pair of goals with singles from Jaiden Smellie, Kingsleigh MacPherson and Grace McLelland helped secure the win. Jessica Sattler with a pair and singles from Hailey Irwin and Melanie Decock rounded out the scoring in U13/15 action.

Plenty of scoring was highlighted in the U13/U15 elite division as Royal LePage -Dan Parnell outscored their opponent, West Street Storage, by a narrow 10-9 margin. Emma Torkoff would take home player- of-the-game honours by notching five goals on the way to the win. Eleanor Waite would chip in with a pair of goals and single markers from Anna Lajoie and Sydney Shawyer would round out the scoring for the winners. Jayden Taylor would record a hattrick in a losing effort while Hannah Rudge and Avery Paek would chip in with two goal efforts themselves. Ryan Davison and Katie Wilson would round out the scoring stats in the slugfest. Game two would see Sophia Columbus earn the win in net as TJS Sheet Metal would score a season high 11-5 win over Kutting Edge Promotions Inc. Two-goal efforts from Kayleigh Aitkens, Kieran Goldthorpe, Riley Marwick and Olivia Glass paced the winners while Chloe Columbus, Caitlin McLaughlin and Emma Marwick added goals as well. Amelia Obee with a pair and Amy Hagman, Alicia Murphy and Bethany Marchant would round out the scoring statistic on the night.

Week 3 action occurs next Monday night at the West Orillia Sports Complex.
