ORILLIA CHANNEL CATS SWIM CLUB

Members of the Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at two meets held on the same weekend.
Blythe Wieclawek competed at the Winter Ontario Swimming Championships held at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. This meet was considered a prep meet prior to competing at the Canadian Swimming Trials being held in Toronto later this month.
Wieclawek competed in the 100-metre backstroke, 50-metre freestyle, 100-metre butterfly, 100-metre freestyle and 200-metre backstroke, placing eighth in the 100-metre backstroke and sixth in the 200-metre backstroke.
Also in the same weekend, 25 members from the senior novice, bronze, silver and gold training groups participated in the Collingwood High Five Invitational. Swimmers participated in a pentathlon-type event, racing all four competitive strokes and the 100-metre or 200-metre individual medley. Swimmers’ overall times in all five events were added together. The top three swimmers with the lowest overall scores received awards.
Top three combined overall finishes in each age group include Emma Edgerton (second), Hartley Russell (third), Isabella Brown (first), Sophie Shivers (second), Cohen Greer (first), Zoe LeBoeuf (third), Grace Hunter (second), Catherine Shaw (third), Boyd Brown (second), Evangeline Cooke (first), Taryn Fenton (second), Ava Fairgrieve (first), Emony Fisher (second), Zoe Baker (first), Riley Shore (second), Kael Cresanto (first), Sophia Brown (first), Sam Pecorella (first), Katie Heckendorn (first).
Swimmers who competed at the meet outside of the pentathlon events include Carmen Conroy, Maelle Mooney, Indiana Abram, Alexy Gorban, Rydaar Watt, Nicolas Willis.
